Angler Story | It was Friday 7/17/09 at 3;00pm, when I decided to go bass fishing and search for areas to fish on a upcoming tournament (Skiatook Lake Anglers) I had started fishing the main lake points and managed to catch 3 keepers over 14" using a 1/2oz. jig. By then it was getting late in the evening so I headed back to the ramp (Blackdog) and call it a day. It seemed like everyone had the same idea with a long line of boats waiting to load their boats. I headed across from the ramp to fish and wait for the everyone to load their boats. It was 8:30pm when I pitched a jig and one about took the rod out of my hand. I set the hook and nothing there, with several more casts (nothing) so I picked up a DD22. The 2nd cast across the point, BAM ,a big fish. I thought it would weigh around 8lbs so I called Billy Ingram and he met me at the ramp to help me load up. Off to Mr. Bass in Skiatook I went to weigh it in. Well the largemouth was only weighed 6lbs. so that tells you it’s been awhile since I caught a fish that big. But for Skiatook that’s a good fish any day. We released the bass in good shape and I hope to catch her again someday. |
